BIOGRAPHY
Swerve Strickland is a professional wrestler, recording artist and actor who excels at all three crafts, despite just one of them being an art that very few can master. Swerve’s work ethic and drive is so extraordinary that one can only speculate where it comes from. Perhaps he got his discipline and drive from his time serving his country in the military or maybe it was born from a deep desire to avoid some of the demons and dysfunction he observed his family struggle with while growing up a military brat who lived his childhood both overseas in Germany as well as in the states of Washington and Pennsylvania. It was the dysfunction he observed as a child that resulted in Swerve adopting a straight edge lifestyle that makes him a perfect role model as he has never tasted a drop of alcohol or used any recreational drug in his entire life.
The talented and multi-faceted performer has spent almost two decades developing his reputation as a show stealer. Swerve first set out to conquer the world of professional wrestling by performing for companies throughout the world on multiple television networks and platforms. Within Swerve’s unpredictable high-risk and high-flying offense is also a stealthy submission and ground-and-pound game, which happens to be a skillset he attained during his time in the U.S. Army. Swerve also set his sights on conquering the world of music and eventually incorporated his talents as a rapper and songwriter into his on-air wrestling character. While doing this, Swerve also made the time to get professional acting training and embarked on an acting career wherein he landed roles in two feature films.
Swerve’s work ethic and time perfecting his craft resulted in him achieving a career milestone when he became the first Black AEW World Heavyweight Champion. Most would rest on those laurels, however resting is not part of Swerve’s DNA. The goals Swerve has achieved and will continue to achieve were deemed unattainable and unrealistic by most, but that was never Swerve’s mindset as his abundance of self-confidence is embodied in the brand he birthed – SwerveConfident.
Swerve uses the AEW platform he earned from the Khan family, who also own the NFL Jacksonville Jaguars and pro soccer’s FC Folsom, to showcase his myriad of talents multiple times a week on primetime network television (TBS and TNT) in over two million living rooms across the country. While performing on national television for AEW, Swerve has showcased his music while recruiting such music industry heavyweights as Rick Ross, Fabolous, Kevin Gates, Bun B, Jim Jones, Westside Gunn, Waka Flocka, DJ Whoo Kid, and others to appear with him on television and pay-per-view.
In his short music career, Swerve has already recorded songs with recording artists such as Benny the Butcher, Bun B, Musiq Soulchild, Westside Gunn, Eric Bellinger, Mickey Factz, Flatbush Zombies, Fya Man, and Jon Connor while garnering 2 million streams on Spotify and Apple Music and hundreds of thousand of streams for one song in one week. He has promoted his music through interviews on such notable platforms as The Breakfast Club and HOT 97 while performing at Rolling Loud, the House of Blues, and concerts from London, England to New York City including a rap and rock concert collaboration with the band Fozzy who has six top 10 Rock Billboard hits. He has done countless radio and television interviews on major networks and platforms throughout the country and was featured in XXL Magazine’s Freshman issue, which touts the top recording artists to watch in the music industry.
Swerve’s reach is truly remarkable. There is a documentary in development featuring Swerve Strickland’s rise to stardom which is being produced and directed by the Academy Award winning Lucas Brothers who have been nominated for six Academy Awards including for Best Picture. Swerve’s merchandise is sold at Hot Topic stores at malls throughout the country and he also has his own brand of sneaker which will likely be released in collaboration with Reebok. Swerve also has one of the highest selling action figures and is even a featured character in DC Comics. Notwithstanding, as has been his pattern, Swerve continues to expand. Swerve intends to create additional traction in the music business and Hollywood coupled with various sponsorships, all of which will be tied into the presentation of his television wrestling character thereby increasing his fanbase and also providing great exposure for every corporation Swerve and SwerveConfident is affiliated with.
